Ignorance Is Bliss?

Have you all heard of the saying, “Ignorance is bliss”? If not, it basically means, the less you know the better, as if joy follows a lack of knowledge.

You know what I learned? That is a lie straight from the deepest darkest pit of hell. I’ve learned that in regards to our spiritual walk with Christ, it is actually quite the opposite, ignorance is in fact not very bliss. The enemy wants you to think that the less you believe in him, the less you’ll be affected by his corruption, but it is because of lack of knowledge that many of God’s very own are destroyed physically, mentally, and spiritually due to his schemes (See Hosea 4:6).

Society has not only desensitized us to the works of the enemy, but it has led many of us into thinking that his overall presence and mission is make-believe.

Hosea 4:6 states, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children”.

God is calling us to draw near to Him, and grow in knowledge so that we can always be one step ahead of the enemy. In choosing to reject the knowledge of God, you are in turn rejecting the Father Himself, and as a result, you stray further and further away from Him and His will for your life. The further you are from God, the closer you become to true death, or the will of the enemy. God left His knowledge (Word of God) to guide, correct, and comfort us, yet many of us refuse to open up the word of God, or spend any time in God’s Holy presence. Though it is not voiced due to ignorance, many of us reject The Father through our actions. It is through ignorance that we are then easily deceived and bewitched (turned away) from the will of God for our lives. So when the word of God states that many will be destroyed due to lack of knowledge, though this can mean in the land of the living as referred to in the bible (physically), I believe true destruction is of the spirit man (spiritually).

For instance, though one may continue to live physically, and maybe prosperously, through their rejection of The Father, their spirit man remains in constant danger of being lost forever (true death). I want you to know that the enemy is banking on you living in ignorance, so that when it matters most you will be deceived, and cling to his lies over God’s truth. The bible says that in the last days MANY will be deceived, guys, NOW is “the last days”, Matthew 24:4-5 states, “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many”.

Now is the time to get up on game, learn a few bible verses here and there, get familiar with the character of God through His word and personalized intimacy with Him, so that when you’re faced with lies, you can combat them with God’s truth.
