Hustle & Bustle

You know, I’m learning that our reality can at times serve as the biggest form of deception in our lives. See, because we experience spiritual warfare on top of not yet physically seeing the promises of God, we question our current positions. But I’m beginning to realize that it’s because we’re called that the attacks are so prominent. See I’ve found that in the book of Mark after John the Baptist baptized Jesus, Jesus was then publicly “called” or “chosen” by God, then immediately He was sent to the wilderness and tempted by Satan for 40 days.

Mark 1:10-13

10 Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. 11 And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”

12 At once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness, 13 and he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted[a] by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.

See the enemy won’t try to attack who he doesn’t deem a threat. And Jesus’ entire earthly existence was the greatest threat to Satan’s ultimate mission.

Now, I am one to always look in the mirror and wonder, am I doing enough, or if I’m truly in the will of God. I don’t know about you all, but I’ve found that my current season has required a lot of me being still and waiting on the Lord, studying the word of God, resting, and MUCH correction. So, on the outside looking in it doesn’t seem like much is happening, and the attacks sort of make it even harder to see that truly I’m exactly where I’m meant to be. Today, I sat back and assessed where I am now vs. where I was 2 years ago, and I can see it all so clearly, just how far I’ve come spiritually, mentally, and physically. See, faith, though invisible, is transformative and has the ability to move mountains. Because we don’t initially see what our faith is doing within our lives we overlook its transformative power, and we exhaust ourselves trying to “make things happen” in our lives from our own power.

Mark 4:27, “Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows though he does not know how”

Mark 4:29, “As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come”

What I want you to see today is that your faith in Jesus right where you are is going to lead you to a harvest you can’t even imagine.  In the midst of the repetitiveness of your lives, God is going to eventually blow His horn, and call you out, to new heights. Just how Jesus called Levi (or Mathew) the tax collector to follow him during work hours.

Mark 2:14, “As he walked along, he saw Levi (also known as Matthew) son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.”

Where you are now, and where you’ve come from was preparation for where you’re going. It is because of your faith that you will not only reach all that God has for you, but you will excel there. Sometimes all you need is faith and the ability to wait in order to remain in God’s will for your life. Maybe the hustle and bustle is not your path, maybe silent reflection and correction is what God has called you to in this season of your life, and maybe the visions and ideas He’s given you are meant to manifest when He calls you out, when you’re prepared. Don’t let the attacks from the enemy force you out of position. Take this back to God and let Him confirm to you what it is that He expects of you in this season of your life.
