Wait On The Lord
The longer you wait for the desires of your heart to manifest the more you begin to wonder if it is even in God’s will for you to possess such things. Then God gives you signs as if to say, “yes, I will allow it”. So you wait and wait, and still no manifestation of what are now considered promises of the Lord. What do you do when you’ve prayed, you’ve been obedient, and still no manifestation of the promises of the Lord? Do you give up and believe that you’ve gotten it wrong, or do you remain still, and wait for the Lord to do what He said He would? As you’re reading this, I bet without a second thought you said, “We should wait on the Lord”, and most likely this was your response knowing what’s expected of you as a follower of Christ, but I know first hand that waiting on the Lord is so much easier said than done. See, I’ve learned that when you understand why God says, “yes, but not yet”, you begin to wait a little differently, and your prayers regarding your desires begin to change.
I began praying for marriage 2 years ago, and without hesitation God told me, “yes, I will allow it”. So as time passed my prayers changed from asking for it, to, “Lord prepare me for it”, and now, 2 years later, it has matured to, “Lord don’t send it if I’m not ready”. See, my prayers matured as I matured in Christ. I realized that I didn’t need to beg for what’s already mine in Jesus name, but instead that I need to pray that I am who God needs me to be, so that I may steward well over the promise at the appointed time.
It was for my own good that God did not allow this desire of my heart to manifest when I first asked for it. I didn’t understand then, but I know now, that He knew that in what used to be my current state, I would’ve destroyed the very thing I wanted most at that time. I now understand that God’s, “not yet”, is not even a blessing in disguise, it’s a BLATANT blessing, we just have to see it that way.
Also, let’s not forget, the purpose behind the manifestation of God given promises is to ultimately bring glory to His name, so although it’s a blessing to you, it will in some way aid in the building up of God’s kingdom on earth. On the other hand, you all know we serve a jealous God, there should be no other gods before Him, and God knows that our heart’s desires have the ability to become mini gods in our lives, so in order to keep us from falling into unintentional idolization, preparation spiritually is necessary. So being ready doesn’t mean just learning how to be a wife for instance, but being ready is learning that even though you desire a husband, you don’t NEED anyone or anything else, but God. When you learn this, you can walk into the promise no longer depending on it to fill you up or complete you over the spirit of God.
By the grace of God we are given blessings not to complete us, but to compliment the work that has already been done within <3
Exodus 34:14,
“14) Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.”
2 Corinthians 1:20
“20) For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us."
