Stand Firm
I said to God last night, “It shouldn’t have to be this way”. I was referring to the battles Christ followers face. Although it’s a means to an unfortunate end, we watch as the world welcomes the wicked and their deeds. Some of us may even wonder at times, what’s the point of living righteously when the wicked “seems” to prevail. I was reminded of a very unsettling picture I saw on Instagram yesterday of a woman’s ear swollen and crusty because of a piercing she had. Everyone in the comments was saying that she should just take it out because the ear was clearly rejecting the piercing. This picture came to mind as I was having this conversation with God. What came to me is that the world is rejecting what does not belong, that’s why we suffer persecutions that aren’t warranted by our actions. See, John 17:16 says, “They are not of the world, even as I am not of it”. So though we are IN the world, the word of God says we are not OF the world, just as Christ was not. To be OF the world is to be a child of the devil.
What’s the point of all this?
I’d like to remind you that this life in relation to eternity is little to nothing. The goal is to get the victory here, so we can make it to the promised afterlife, and live forever in peace and harmony where we belong.
Try to find comfort in knowing that you’re not alone. Though we may face different troubles, we’re all in this thing together.
1 Peter 5:9:
“Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings”
