The Hard Truth
I wanted to share this because I understand that some of you may be new to the faith. To me, conversations about spiritual warfare are pretty normal, but I remember a time where I literally had trouble sleeping because of the fear of such knowledge. It was when I first started writing for Christ that I then began to experience attacks meant to silence me (In the future I will go into detail). At the time, I didn’t quite know anything about the spiritual warfare that comes with salvation, I was just on a high for the Lord, and excited to do His will through something I love (writing). After experiencing spiritual warfare myself, I began to realize that people do not talk enough about the sleepless nights, or the moments of doubt regarding your choice of salvation that arise as a result. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a lot more attractive to talk about the beauty of being saved, but I believe it’s important to also talk about what the journey looks like, so people do not run from the righteous path because things “get hard”.
Things will inevitably get hard, and a bit weird, honestly that’s life, life can be hard and weird with or without Jesus. The thing about having Jesus on your side is that though disappointed at times you should never feel hopeless like those of the world because our hope is in the Lord, and He remains. See, we believe in the promises of God written in the bible, so although we may not see the manifestation of our prayers with our physical eyes, we believe that according to the word of God, if we delight ourselves in the Lord, He will give us the desires of our hearts (Psalms 37:4). And we know that all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us (2 Corinthians 1:20). Another thing that’s beneficial is the feeling of never being alone. Having a solid relationship with God is EVERYTHING. He is the mother, father, sister, brother, and best friend you’ve never had; someone you can confidently confide in about everything without feeling judged, you know why? Because He already knows what you did and where your mind wonders (good or bad). Because of this relationship, there’s always this sense of peace even in the midst of the storms brewing throughout your life, people may even look at you strange from time to time, unable to understand how you’re still smiling after all you’ve been through, but that’s the benefit of being a child of God.
As you may already know according to the word of God, there’s no promise that life will get easier, in fact, at times it may feel worse (read the book of Job), but that Holy Spirit within you is what will keep you. I’ve even found that even when you’re down, the world can’t see it on you. There was a day where I had literally just finished crying over something, and I walked back into work and my coworker said, “you always seem so happy-go-lucky, without a care in the world”. I just laughed because if only she knew. I believe what my coworker notices about me is my sense of hope, and faith in God despite what life throws at me. So though I may cry, because I am an advocate for “getting it out” (tears), I always walk away knowing that weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning (Psalms 30:5).
If you’re new to the faith, don’t be afraid when you’re faced with spiritual warfare, you’re not alone. Remember that you have the authority over the enemy, he likes to make you feel otherwise, but believe me when I say, anything you demand of Satan in Jesus’ name has to happen. It’s not by your own power, but of the one who lives within you. Have faith and be brave.
Luke 10:18-20:
18) He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19) I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20) However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.
