Do You Know Who I AM?
I asked God, “What am I going to do?”. Things weren’t aligning as God had shown me they would time and time again, so I asked this question, not out of curiosity regarding what should be my next move, but if I’m being honest, out of discouragement almost. You know when you’re faced with an impossible circumstance in which the outcome seems to be written in stone, and you say to yourself, “What am I going to do?”. The question is almost rhetorical because you know that there is nothing you can do. That’s how I approached God, and instantly, He dropped in my spirit, “Be still and know that I am God”. Something different came to me regarding the word, “know”, within this verse. I’ve found that it is not until we know who God is that we could actually be still, ultimately, out of faith in Him. A few years ago, when I had little to no relationship with God, still, I prayed for God to show up in my life. One night I heard His voice speak to me so clearly, “Do you know who I am?”, I said, “Yes”, then He asked, “Then why do you doubt me?”. I realize now, that back then, I only recognized God, but I didn’t quite know Him, not yet. It takes faith to be still and wait on the Lord to make a way in your life when it seems like there is no way; it takes knowing the God you serve to walk out such faith. God is asking someone today, do you truly know who He is? Though at times we may experience moments of doubt as humans, these moments should never drown out our knowledge of, and faith in, the almighty God of the universe. Our knowledge of who God is alone should be enough to encourage us to wait for what He’s spoken over our lives to come to pass.
The breakthrough may seem impossible or goals unreachable, and you’re right, it is impossible, it is unreachable, for you, but not for God. God does His best work in the impossible. It’s in God’s ability to make possible the impossible time and time again that constantly reminds us that He truly is the one and only all powerful God.
Do you know who God is?
“I AM WHO I AM” -God
Scripture to reflect on:
Exodus 3:14
God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you. ' ”
Numbers 23:19:
God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?
Psalms 46:10:
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
